How is the decision-making process at Nmbrs?


You decide what to do and how to do it. Collaboration among employees is key to the decision-making process at Nmbrs.



Decisions, decisions, decisions. We all have to make them every single day. We can ask for help but, at the end of the day, we are the ones who need to execute them.

At Nmbrs, collaboration and teamwork are the drivers behind any decision. Managers are definitely not one of them.

We created a system that, while giving us freedom, ensures that actions are being taken in an organised way to achieve our goals.

Collaboration and teamwork in a whole different structure

We are ambitious and want to scale fast. Building a team structure that allows for that is crucial.

We work in multidisciplinary teams that are responsible for individual parts of the product. This allows us to not have as many bottlenecks and for teams to test and deliver fast.

What this would mean for you is that you would be a part of a squad and chapter.


The decision-making process

Below the management team, everything is flat which means there is no one telling you what to do. The squads are the ones who decide how they tackle their workload while you are responsible for choosing your tasks and organizing your time.  

You will have a period for the job and company onboarding . Our product is quite complex and we do not expect any new joiner to already master it.

After you are acquainted with everything, you are expected to know what to do and be proactive about it. It doesn't mean you will work alone. It's the exact opposite! Our feedback culture, collaboration and communication are important to the good functioning of the team

The decision-making process itself has many variations. This is how it looks like:

The Management Team (MT)
defines the strategy for the product
and the company (where we want to
go, what we need to get there,
amongst other decisions).

At the end of the year,
all the POs and the Management Team
meet to present the problems
that need to be addressed.

With the help of their team members,
the POs come together and define
what can be done to solve those problems.

Each squad decides how to develop
the chosen solutions. You can ask
other squads and stakeholders for help.

Sometimes it works very well and everyone inside the team is aligned, other times it does not. Nonetheless, it is crucial that you are able to share your opinion and ideas. Everyone is equal at Nmbrs, no matter the experience or the background.

The agile decision-making way to scale a product

Change is inevitable and all companies go through that. Being able to adapt fast is very important when you are ambitious with big plans to grow. We are agile, not only on how we work but on how we think. Our entire company culture is a reflection of that.

Every team inside Nmbrs follows agile methodologies. Not all of them do it the same way, though. Each team decides what is best for them.
